A posthumous-recovery year: The Mailer Review prints 'The Blood of the Blunt,' a previously unpublished short story of about 1951 drawn from the Ransom Center papers, and the uncut version of a 1991 Lennon interview.
The Mailer Review recovers early Mailer from the archive: “The Blood of the Blunt” (12.1), a previously unpublished short story of about 1951 — a husband and wife confessing their infidelities in the small hours, glossed on the surviving typescript as “obviously N+B” (Bea and Norman) — printed with a facsimile of its Ransom Center manuscript. The same issue prints “Mailer is Back” (12.2), the uncut version of a 1991 interview by J. Michael Lennon.
