Norman Mailer Center
A nonprofit organization established after Mailer's death to support writers and writing education (associated with the Norman Mailer Writers Colony at his Provincetown home). After his death in 2007, the part of Mailer's personal library not sent to the Ransom Center "was donated to the Norman Mailer Center and is now in storage."
The Norman Mailer Center is a nonprofit founded after Mailer’s 2007 death to foster writers and writing, principally through programs associated with the Norman Mailer Writers Colony based at Mailer’s house on Commercial Street in Provincetown. As J. Michael Lennon records in “The Naked and the Read,” the remainder of Mailer’s personal library — the portion not acquired by the Harry Ransom Center in 2005 — “was donated to the Norman Mailer Center and is now in storage”.
The Center should not be confused with the Norman Mailer Society, the scholarly society (co-sponsor of The Mailer Review): the Society is an academic membership organization, while the Center is a writers’ nonprofit and a holder of part of Mailer’s library.
