David Riesman
American sociologist, best known for The Lonely Crowd (1950). Mailer reviews his Individualism Reconsidered in "David Riesman Reconsidered" (54.3); the two had also been among the contributors to the Partisan Review "Our Country and Our Culture" symposium (52.1) in 1952.
