Gloria Steinem, the journalist and feminist organizer, worked on and contributed to the 1969 Mailer–Breslin campaign and is credited in Running Against the Machine (69.80). She would become a prominent antagonist of Mailer’s during the 1971 controversy over The Prisoner of Sex and women’s liberation.
