Harold Conrad
American boxing publicist, fight promoter, and writer; a longtime Mailer friend whose memoir Dear Muffo: 35 Years in the Fast Lane (1982) carried a Mailer foreword.
Harold Conrad, the boxing publicist and fight promoter — a “trouble-shooter” and “fixer” who spent thirty-five years in the orbit of stars, hustlers, and “legendary hoods” — was a longtime friend of Mailer’s. His memoir Dear Muffo: 35 Years in the Fast Lane (Stein and Day, 1982) carried a foreword by Mailer (82.26), alongside an introduction by Budd Schulberg. Conrad helped publicize several of the major fights Mailer wrote about.
