The opening installment of “Quickly: A Column for Slow Readers” in The Village Voice — Mailer’s introduction and statement of purpose for the column.

The clipping (provided by founding editor J. Michael Lennon) confirms that this first installment ran under the original subtitle “A Column for Slow Thinkers,” later changed to “Slow Readers,” and that it carried a photograph of Mailer.
