The final "Quickly" column — a comment on Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot that Mailer would soon reverse in his paid "Public Notice" (56.26).
The last “Quickly” installment in The Village Voice — a comment on Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, including Sergius O’Shaughnessy’s poem “The Drunk’s Bebop and Chowder” from The Deer Park (55.4). A week later Mailer reversed his dismissive view in the paid “A Public Notice” (56.26); his resignation from the Voice followed.
