A 2,000-word paid advertisement-letter, signed “Norman and Jimmy,” attacking the New York media for making the Mailer–Breslin campaign “look like clowns” and outlining the team’s platform (revenue, law and order, transportation, housing, school decentralization, the “Sweet Sunday” traffic ban). Mailer’s position papers, with much of this language, are collected in Running Against the Machine (69.80).
