“At 77, Mailer gives up on the Sexual Revolution,” Fiachra Gibbons’s report in The Guardian (15 August 2000), covers Mailer’s appearance at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, where he pronounced the sexual revolution lost — “Women have won everything. Men have sunk into their dugouts” — and, on Clinton and Lewinsky, confided “Mon frère … I’d have done it myself,” while faulting Clinton’s “dreadful” deference to the corporations.
