A politically active year with limited Mailer-authored publication. Six of the nine 1949 entries cluster around the 25–27 March Waldorf Conference and its “Trojan horse” remarks (49.1, 49.2a, 49.2b, 49.2c, and the NCASP transcript 49.5). Two further entries (49.4, 49.6) record Mailer’s class-report and civil-rights statements. The remaining entry (49.2) is a group interview with the NAD-era debut novelists; 49.3 is Mailer’s public rebuttal to the London Sunday Times’s NAD obscenity charge.
