Eddie Bonetti, a Provincetown writer and a close friend of Mailer’s, appeared in the Tough Guys Don’t Dance film (1987). After his death, Provincetown Arts reprinted Mailer’s 1977 blurb for Bonetti’s story collection The Wine Cellar in a 1994 memorial article (94.4); Mailer called the collection “a work about Italians living in America that begins where The Godfather ends,” comparing Bonetti’s prose to Hemingway’s and Steinbeck’s.
