Luke Breit, an American poet, is the son of Mailer’s friend the New York Times critic Harvey Breit. He interviewed Mailer for Poet News during the Tough Guys Don’t Dance publicity (84.2), and in 1989 Mailer contributed the introduction to his collection Messages: New and Selected Poems, 1969–1989 (89.13), calling him “one of the best romantic poets we’ve got” and “Doctor Breit, Traffic Consultant for locked-up synapses.”
