A story about a prototype Greenwich Village bohemian. Mailer notes in Advertisements for Myself (59.13) that he wrote it about the same time as his war stories — “The Paper House” (52.2), “The Dead Gook” (52.3), and “The Language of Men” (53.2) — and “The Notebook” (53.4).
