The Man Who Studied Yoga
A novella — Mailer conceived it as the prologue to a projected cycle of eight interlocking novels, of which only The Deer Park was ever written — published in New Short Novels 2 by Ballantine. It is, in Lennon's phrase, "Mailer's penultimate extended use of an omniscient narrator in fiction."

Mailer intended the novella as the preface to a cycle of eight interlocking novels; The Deer Park (55.4) was the only one of the cycle ever published. Lennon calls it “Mailer’s penultimate extended use of an omniscient narrator in fiction.” A brief prefatory comment appears on the unnumbered page facing p. 1.
