Mailer Finishes First Stage Work
A New York Times article by Louis Calta reporting that Mailer has finished a stage adaptation of The Deer Park — a four-act, twelve-character, three-hour play then being read by a Broadway producer.

Mailer tells Calta that he has finished a stage version of his novel The Deer Park (55.4) and that it is being read by a Broadway producer. He describes the play as being in four acts, calling for twelve characters, and running three hours. The adaptation would surface again across the years (see 59.11, 60.4) before reaching the stage as The Deer Park: A Play in 1967 (67.13).
