In editorial director Seymour Krim’s column previewing the April issue, Mailer is quoted (92 words) on his recent trip to England and British interest in “hip.” He says, “London is now like New York was in 1948.” Six of Mailer’s poems from Deaths for the Ladies (62.3) are reprinted in the same issue under the title “Art of the Short Hair: Poetry by Norman Mailer.”
The Krim–Mailer connection runs through the foreword to Krim’s Views of a Nearsighted Cannoneer (61.23, December 1961) — Mailer’s first foreword to another writer’s book — and through Krim’s editorship of The Beats anthology (60.4, 1960).
