Mailer's second front-page Village Voice open letter to President Kennedy (the first was the 27 April 1961 'Open Letter to JFK and Castro,' 61.5). Reprinted as 'A Second Open Letter to JFK' in The Presidential Papers (63.37) and The Idol and the Octopus (68.11). Marks a continuation of Mailer's running argument with the Kennedy administration through the calendar year of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Bay of Pigs aftermath.

Mailer’s second front-page Voice open letter to President Kennedy — the first was the 27 April 1961 “Open Letter to JFK and Castro” (61.5). The December 1962 letter follows the year of the Bay of Pigs aftermath and the October Cuban Missile Crisis. Rpt: as “A Second Open Letter to JFK” in The Presidential Papers (63.37), and again in The Idol and the Octopus (68.11).
