Norman Mailer: Works and Days

Bibliography 1953

A short-fiction year. Mailer’s first Esquire story and an accompanying Esquire interview (53.1, 53.2) run in April; two more stories appear in London periodicals (“Pierrot,” 53.3, and “The Notebook,” 53.4); a class-record statement (53.5) closes the year. All five pieces are later gathered, in whole or in part, into Advertisements for Myself (59.13).
