The Theatre for Ideas was a New York forum for panels and debates among intellectuals. Mailer commented from the audience at its February 1966 Vietnam panel (see 66.2); it would later host the celebrated 1971 dialogue on women’s liberation (“Town Bloody Hall”) at which Mailer moderated.
