Countercultural activist, co-founder of the Yippies, and a Chicago Seven defendant; appears in Mailer's 1970 coverage of the Yippies.
Abbie Hoffman was a countercultural activist and co-founder of the Youth International Party (the “Yippies”), and one of the defendants in the Chicago Seven conspiracy trial arising from the 1968 Democratic National Convention. In Mailer’s 1970 material he appears at the press conference and Standard Club lunch reported in “‘68 Yippie Plans Stunned Mailer” (70.3).
