Robert F. Lucid
Literary scholar (long at the University of Pennsylvania) who met Mailer while Mailer lectured at the University of Chicago in 1958 and became his archivist and lifelong friend. Lucid is part of this project's own bibliographic lineage: his early compilations of Mailer's work underlie the Lennon–Lennon Works and Days.
Robert F. Lucid met Norman Mailer during Mailer’s week of lectures at the University of Chicago in the fall of 1958 and became his archivist and a close lifelong friend. He edited The Long Patrol (1971), an anthology of Mailer’s work, and the critical collection Norman Mailer: The Man and His Work (1971). His bibliographic and archival labor — with the later compilations of Laura Adams and Thomas Fiske — is among the foundations on which J. Michael and Donna Pedro Lennon built the print Works and Days, and thus this project (see About this project).
