The Literate at the Fight

Leonard Shecter's New York Post column on the morning of Patterson-Liston I (25 September 1962, Chicago). Mailer is among the writer-witnesses; he predicts Patterson 'will end it with one punch in the sixth.' (Liston KO'd Patterson in the first round.) Mailer's account of the fight, 'Ten Thousand Words a Minute' (63.3), is forthcoming in Esquire February 1963.
