“A Dream of the Future’s Face” (Life, 9 January 1970, 56–74) is the third and last of the three-part series Mailer wrote for Life on the 1969 moon shot, following “A Fire on the Moon” (69.81) and “The Psychology of Astronauts” (69.83). The three installments were later incorporated, with much reordering, into Of a Fire on the Moon (71.1).
