“A Harlot High and Low: Reconnoitering through the Secret Government,” an essay in New York (16 August 1976) on the CIA, Watergate, the assassination of J. F. K., and other mysteries, with a cover photograph of Mailer. The subtitle, Mailer said, was the editors’ work, and was dropped in reprints.
