A quote-laden report on Mailer’s 2 May court appearance in Barnstable — with Norris Church and his lawyer Monroe Inker — in his divorce from Beverly Bentley; it also describes his 6 May benefit reading for Harvard’s Advocate, at which he first read from The Executioner’s Song** (79.14). Mailer’s objection to Vibbert’s calling Carol Stevens his “mistress” produced his letter 79.5b.
