Costa Rican-born American book editor; as a young editor at Random House he shepherded Jack Henry Abbott's In the Belly of the Beast (1981) into print alongside Mailer.
Erroll McDonald, the Costa Rican-born book editor, was the Random House editor who, with Mailer, brought Jack Henry Abbott‘s prison letters into print as In the Belly of the Beast (1981). He is quoted, alongside Mailer and Robert Silvers, in Stella Dong’s Publishers Weekly account of the book (81.11). McDonald later became a longtime executive editor at Pantheon.
