Hilary Mills is the American journalist who wrote Mailer: A Biography (Empire Books, 1982; 82.23), the first book-length biography of Mailer. The year before it appeared she conducted “Creators on Creating: Norman Mailer” (81.2), a major Saturday Review interview on his development as a writer; that interview is also folded into the biography (82.23 passim).
