“All Night Long: The Fight, Part II,” the conclusion of Mailer’s Playboy serialization (June 1975) on the Muhammad Ali–George Foreman fight in Zaire. Playboy awarded this excerpt and “The Dead Are Dying of Thirst” (75.8) its annual award for best nonfiction of 1975. With many changes, it became Part II of The Fight (75.12).
