A year of Mailer scholarship and recovery: The Mailer Review prints the last of its run of recovered c. 1951 stories, Maggie McKinley publishes the first single-author critical study of Mailer's whole career, and the Society holds its fifteenth annual conference in Sarasota.
A post-2016 year given to scholarship and archival recovery. The Mailer Review prints “Dr. Bulganoff and the Solitary Teste,” the last of its run of previously unpublished c. 1951 Mailer stories from the Ransom Center papers, along with Barbara Mailer Wasserman‘s keynote “Norman Mailer in Long Branch.” Maggie McKinley publishes Understanding Norman Mailer (University of South Carolina Press, 6 November), billed as the first book of criticism to address Mailer’s entire career.
