A quick note — Mailer must start the serial's third installment the next day, so he is 'driving the bulldozer' through his mail — reporting that he has forwarded Skellings's manuscript to his Putnam's publisher, Walter Minton.
A brief note to Edmund Skellings, written on the eve of starting the serial’s third installment — “I’m trying to drive the bulldozer through my mail.” Mailer says he can’t answer Skellings’s questions properly but has sent his manuscript to Walter Minton at Putnam’s, telling Minton that Skellings was interested in rewriting it.
