The Brooklyn neighborhood where the Mailer family lived from the 1928 move from Long Branch until January 1932 — on Cortelyou Road — and where Mailer attended P.S. 181.

After leaving Long Branch in 1928, the Mailers settled in Flatbush, on Cortelyou Road, where they remained until the family’s move to Crown Heights in January 1932. Mailer attended P.S. 181 (grades 1–4) during these years.
